Island coffee!
Did you ever tried coffee grown and produced on an island? An island exactly as you picture it, tropical and sunny. Small enough to walk around it in an hour, big enough to separate yourself from the outside world, being in the moment, in silence. Drinking coffee from Gishamwana island brings you to this place.
The island lays on the eastern banks of Lake Kivu, located on the west side of Rwanda and sharing borders with Congo. Here, Emmanuel Rwakagara nurtures 28.000 plants, growing under shade provided by a forest as part of the rich island biodiversity. Together with his colleagues he picks, ferments, washes and dries the coffee cherries on location before they leave by boat.
His coffee is refreshing with flavours of red berries and floral notes. Great as a morning cup of filter coffee, soaking in those holiday vibes, island life.
We currently roast bi-weekly on Fridays. New orders will be sent out after the next roast day or earlier depending on stock.
Upcoming roast days:
27th September
11th October
