The Araku Valley is in the Southeast of India, a remote area that has been home to indigenous tribes for centuries. In the early 1920s the British brought coffee to the region with high altitudes of around 1200 masl. Ideal for growing quality coffee.

Only 80 years later India’s largest non-profit organization, Naandi foundation, positively affected the life of the tribal farmers of Araku by supporting them in producing this quality product. Since then, coffee has been cultivated in small parcels of land, shade grown and in harmony with nature. This let to bringing back biodiversity and producing fairtrade- and organic certified arabica coffees over the past 20 years.
The model is sustained by Araku’s independent coffee cooperative called SAMTFMACS, one of the world’s largest organic certified cooperatives with more than 17.000 farming families.

Having Araku on the menu is the result of a long history of working together with these farmers. Their coffee has great sweetness and texture, making it a comfortable espresso also in combination with milk.
